Ex aequo<\/strong> is a non-profit community organization that promotes and defends the
\ncollective rights of people with physical disabilities living on the Island of Montreal.
\nIt advocates for universal accessibility as a means of enabling social inclusion. The
\nareas of inclusion advocatedby Ex aequo include: transportation, municipal life,
\nhealth and social services, housing, parenting, civic engagement, and food security.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mission<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Oxili Service<\/strong> facilitates matching between homecare workers listed in its
\nreferral database and individuals who require home support and wish to manage
\ntheir services independently through the Direct Allowance \/ Service Employment<\/strong>
\nPaycheque (CES)<\/strong> program.<\/span><\/p>\n

These individuals, referred to as self-managers<\/strong>, may include adults with disabilities,
\nparents with disabilities, families with children who have functional limitations, and
\npeople experiencing a loss of autonomy due to aging, all residing on the Island of
\nMontreal.<\/p>\n

Self-managers are considered employers<\/strong> and are therefore responsible for hiring
\nthe homecare worker, organizing tasks, deciding when services are received, and
\nrespecting the hours outlined in their CLSC intervention plan.
\nThey are also responsible for understanding and upholding their rights and
\nobligations as employers.
\nThe Oxili Service has two primary objectives:<\/p>\n

  1. Provide support and tools<\/strong> to self-managers to help them fulfill their role as
    \nemployers.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Support homecare workers<\/strong> with their integration into the workplace and their understanding of their rights. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Oxili Service is available in both French and English<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
