The Oxili Service
Project completed by Ex aequo
Ex aequo is a non-profit community organization that promotes and defends the
collective rights of people with physical disabilities living on the Island of Montreal.
It advocates for universal accessibility as a means of enabling social inclusion. The
areas of inclusion advocatedby Ex aequo include: transportation, municipal life,
health and social services, housing, parenting, civic engagement, and food security.
Mission
The Oxili Service facilitates matching between homecare workers listed in its
referral database and individuals who require home support and wish to manage
their services independently through the Direct Allowance / Service Employment
Paycheque (CES) program.
These individuals, referred to as self-managers, may include adults with disabilities,
parents with disabilities, families with children who have functional limitations, and
people experiencing a loss of autonomy due to aging, all residing on the Island of
Montreal.
Self-managers are considered employers and are therefore responsible for hiring
the homecare worker, organizing tasks, deciding when services are received, and
respecting the hours outlined in their CLSC intervention plan.
They are also responsible for understanding and upholding their rights and
obligations as employers.
The Oxili Service has two primary objectives:
- Provide support and tools to self-managers to help them fulfill their role as
employers. - Support homecare workers with their integration into the workplace and their understanding of their rights.
The Oxili Service is available in both French and English.
